Conehead termites are an invasive species native to the Caribbean that was first introduced to the U.S. in 2001. They were originally called “tree termites,” but were renamed conehead termites to alleviate the misconception that this pest is only found in trees.⠀

This type of termite can affect landscapes significantly by eating away the wood in your trees. Although there are only two cities where this type of termite can be found (Dania Beach and Pompano Beach) if not managed properly they could easily spread from one property to another. The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) is working diligently to prevent this invasive termite from becoming permanently established and spreading further throughout the state. FDACS asks Floridians to be on the lookout for these invasive pests and to report any suspected sightings. however is important to make sure that you are hiring experienced and capable professional who is well informed and experienced in dealing with this an other pests.
